Advice for an 18 year old from my friends

Riley – you just turned 18 years old. It is a milestone birthday. Last week I wrote a special blog entry for your birthday. I also posted a question on facebook seeking advice for you. Above is the question I posed. Facebook is a great way to poll your friends. Many of my friends responded to this request. Several of them gave thoughtful responses. Here are a few samples. They are worth sharing with you.

 

One friend recommended that I tell you stories from my youth vice giving advice. Good idea.

 

Your “Uncle Erik” made a brilliant observation. He is right. You are ready for the world.

 

Another high school friend shared a great piece of advice about telling the truth. You know what I say…I cannot help you unless you tell me the truth.

 

Several of my childhood friends also shared advice for you. Great stuff.

I appreciate the fact that several of my friends took time out of their busy schedules to respond. I am sharing these nuggets of knowledge with you so that you have them. Next week I plan to share with you what I would tell my 18-year-old self.
