I was recently rummaging through my record collection the other day. I realized that they are many great bands that I own on vinyl that I did not include in my top fifty list. With that thought in mind, here are ten great rock bands that I own on vinyl that were not included in the list of my top fifty favorite bands. I will note that this list is not in rank order, but instead in alphabetical order.
Great Rock Bands – Asia
Let’s start the list with an obscure band from the 80s. They were a supergroup called Asia. Their debut album spawned several hit songs like “Heat of the Moment”.

Great Rock Bands – Bangles
Next is a hugely popular all-girls band from the 1980s, the Bangles. They had a mega-hit with “Walk Like an Egyptian”. I saw them live in concert a few decades ago, and they were excellent.

Coming in at #8 – Big Country
At #8 is the Scottish band Big Country. Their debut album, The Crossing, is one of my favorites of all time.

Great Rock Bands – Blondie
The next band came out of the punk scene in NYC. The band is Blondie, led by Debbie Harry. They are famous and still kicking around these days. I saw them a few years ago, and they put on quite a show.

Great Rock Bands – Chicago
Chicago is a classic rock band that includes many members and instruments. I like this band’s early music, but not the soft rock after Peter Cetera took charge.

At #5 – The Cult
The Cult released multiple really good albums including their debut. I am kind of mad at myself for not including them in my top fifty. They are that good.

Great Rock Bands – Def Leppard
At #4, is a hard-rocking British band Def Leppard. They released two monster albums that were full of hit songs. Both sold more than ten million copies. I saw them live and they were awesome in concert. I am kicking myself for not including this band in my top fifty list.

Great Rock Bands – Del-Lords
There are going to be some obscure bands on this list. For example, the Del-Lords. If you want to listen to a great album, cue up Based on a True Story. It rocks.

Coming in at #2 – The Godfathers
Going to get obscure with the Godfathers. They are a hard-rocking band from the UK. The Godfathers released several excellent albums many years ago, but they are hard to find, even on Spotify.

Great Rock bands – Icicle Works
Let’s finish the list with another obscure band, The Icicle Works. I bet you are thinking that you have never heard of them. You probably have heard of at least one song called “A Whisper to a Scream”. It is used in commercials these days.

There you have it – ten great rock bands that I own on vinyl that did not make the list of my top fifty favorite rock bands. All feedback is welcome. Feel free to post your list.
