I’m returning to my top 50 favorite rock bands. In this video series, I’m identifying the best three albums by each band. This blog is for band #37 – legendary classic rock band The Eagles.
Criteria for selecting the best three albums
First, the band must have more than three albums. No issue with the Eagles. Second, Greatest Hits albums are allowed. You will see one today for a very specific reason. Third, no live albums are permitted. I will mention the Eagles released an excellent live album back in the 80s. I own it on vinyl that’s how good it is.
The third-best album by this band – The Long Run
The third-best album by The Eagles is called The Long Run. It is an excellent album that I own on vinyl. This record includes several hit songs like “The Long Run”, “I Can’t Tell You Why”, “Heartache Tonight” and one of my favorite song titles of all time “The Greeks Don’t Want No Freaks”.
The second-best album by The Eagles
The second-best album by this legendary band is their greatest hits. I’m including it for a specific reason. This record is the greatest-selling album of all time in the US with almost 40 million copies sold which means practically everybody owns it. If you don’t like this album I would dare say you do not like rock and roll.
The best album by The Eagles
The best album by The Eagles is Hotel California. This recording is the defining album for this band. Everybody owned it back in the day. It includes the hit song “Life In the Fast Lane” as well as the title track. Yes, I definitely own this one on vinyl. The song “Hotel California” reminds me of “Stairway to Heaven”. As soon as you hear the opening chords get ready to sing because you know all the words.
There you have it – the three best Eagles albums. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
