I’m returning to my top 50 favorite rock bands. In this video series, I’m identifying the best three albums by each band. This blog is for band #41 – The Romantics.
Criteria for selecting the best three albums
Here are the three criteria used for crafting this list. First, the band has to have more than three albums. The Romantics were not around for a very long time, but they do have more than three albums. Second, Greatest Hits albums are allowed. I’m not including one for this band. Third – no live albums. One note about The Romantics. They were an excellent band live. I have not seen any live albums from them.
The third-best album by this band is National Breakout
The third-best album by The Romantics is their sophomore record National Breakout. This album is not well known. It includes some good songs and I believe it is worth a listen.
The second-best album by The Romantics
The second-best album by The Romantics In Heat. this is the record that blew up the band and made them a household name. It was released back in the 80s. I have it on vinyl original vinyl. There are some great songs on this album like “Rock You Up”, “Got Me Where You Want Me” (my fave), “One in a Million” (big hit), and “Talking in Your Sleep”, an even bigger hit. This album was unbelievably good.
The best album by The Romantics
The best album by The Romantics is their debut record. It’s one of the best debut records of all time. The second side of this album is pure gold. It starts out with “What I like about You” straight to “She’s got Everything”, and just keeps rocking till the end. We wore this record out playing it in high school. I gotta say every time I hear the opening chords to “What I like about You” I get excited to hear that song.
There you have it – the three best Romantics albums. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
