I’m returning to my top 50 favorite rock bands. In this video series, I’m identifying the best three albums by each band. This blog is for band #47 – Talking Heads.
Criteria for selecting the best three albums
Here are the three criteria I used for creating this list. First, if a band doesn’t have three albums they will not be included. No issues for Talking Heads. Second Greatest Hits albums are allowed. Third no live albums which is a shame because one of this band’s best albums is a live album called stop making sense.
The third-best album by the Talking Heads is Fear of Music
The third-best album by Talking Heads is Fear of Music. It is one of their earlier albums. I will admit some of their early music is pretty experimental AKA weird. There are some strange songs on this album but also a lot of really good ones like “Life During Wartime”.
The second-best Talking Heads album is Little Creatures
The second-best album by this band is Little Creatures. It comes later in their career and is fantastic. This record includes the hit song “And She Was”, “Road to Nowhere” and several other excellent tracks.
The best album by Talking Heads is Speaking in Tongues
The best album by this band is without a doubt Speaking in Tongues. Released in the early 80s the band really hit its stride with this release. It includes the mega-hit song “Burning Down the House” and several other really good songs. In fact, there’s not a bad song on the album. I will confess when I first bought this album back in the day I thought it was somewhat weird. The more I listened to it the more I realized how much genius music there is in this album.
There you have it – the three best Talking Heads albums. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
